Event Overview

Curious about what it's truly like to intern at a startup in Sapporo's growing tech scene as a student? Or are you a founder wondering how hosting interns could be a win-win for your team?

Join us for a special collaboration event between Beebar Global and alliz that brings together startup founders and interns for an open dialogue on the internship experience. We're honored to feature an opening presentation by Tyson Batino, CEO of Scaling Your Company and SmartStart Japan, who will share key insights on how hosting interns can significantly benefit businesses and startups.

Following the opening presentation, a diverse panel will offer unique insights into the early career journey and what it takes to succeed in a startup environment. You'll hear from two student panelists—a current PhD student and a recent graduate—who will share their experiences with effective internship searching, managing early career projects, and how diverse backgrounds contribute to landing a first job in a Sapporo tech startup. Representing the business side, Kevin Bulme, an experienced IT professional and new startup founder, will then share what founders seek in interns and how to ensure mutual growth during an internship.

This event offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with peer students and network with founders who are actively shaping the Sapporo startup ecosystem. Whether you're exploring your first internship or considering hosting interns, this event will help you understand what makes startup internships exciting and valuable for everyone involved. We look forward to welcoming you into our growing community of students and professionals shaping the future of work in Japan's startup scene.

Topic: From Internship to Full-time Employee

Internships give you a front-row seat to someone's growth. Over time, you see how they learn, adapt, and collaborate. You get to understand their personality, values, and work style. By the time they graduate, if they’re interested in joining, it’s often a natural culture fit. For us, this made hiring low-risk and high-impact, turning an intern into a long-term team member who continues to thrive.

Panelist Introduction

Kévin Bulmé, Founder & CEO, Delta Quest Inc.

Kevin Bulmé is a French engineer and entrepreneur who has lived in Japan for nearly a decade. He is the founder and CEO of Delta Quest Inc., an IT and entertainment company based in Sapporo. Kevin has a strong background in software engineering and has worked as a Staff Engineer and Front-End Lead for various international companies.

At Delta Quest, Kevin is currently leading an internship project where students co-develop an original mobile game. This hands-on experience allows interns to build real-world products while learning about cross-cultural teamwork, game development workflows, and entrepreneurship in Japan. The project reflects Kevin’s commitment to creating meaningful and challenging opportunities for young talents.

Outside of work, Kevin is passionate about mentoring, games, and helping others relocate to Japan. He believes in building communities that bridge cultures through technology and creativity.

Mohamed Elbasyouny, Thermal Engineer, Letara Ltd.

Mohamed is a recent graduate from Hokkaido University, majoring in Mechanical and Space Engineering. After getting accepted into the JICA scholarship while working a completely dead-end job at Alexandria University, Egypt, Mohamed did his research on airplane wing flutter in the Space Transportation Systems lab. After (miraculously) obtaining his degree, he was recommended by a senpai to Letara, a hybrid rocket propulsion system developer originally started from Hokudai’s Space Utilization lab. He now works there as a Thermal Engineer/ Letara coffee club manager.

If he’s not at work or the gym, you will always find him sipping on a nice glass of wine in one of Sapporo’s many wonderful underground Soul music bars, which is one of the reasons he loves this city so much.

Prahasith Maddury, Structural Engineer, Letara Ltd.

Praha has been a Doctoral student in Mechanical Engineering at Hokkaido University since 2022. He has been researching various forms of wrist degeneration through the lens of Finite Element Analysis. He has also been involved in supporting startup activities in Sapporo through the Hult Prize at Hokkaido University. Starting October 2025, he will be working as a Structural Engineer at Letara Ltd., a promising young aerospace startup building hybrid rockets, founded by former students at Hokkaido University, and is proudly based in Hokkaido. Building on his Finite Element experience throughout his career, with his enthusiasm for startups, he is looking to help make Hokkaido the SpaceTech capital of Japan with Letara.

While what brought him to Sapporo was what one might say was a stroke of luck with scholarships and interviews, what keeps him here is the community, the culture, and the culinary delights he has enjoyed over nearly 5 years. He looks forward to giving back, helping make Hokkaido the best place to be in Japan.
