Who are the "Members"?
In this community, everyone, including you, is a member. We warmly welcome individuals from various backgrounds and expertise who possess an open mindset and are interested in engaging with others.
What is a "Mentor"?
In our community, a "Mentor" has professional or research experience in a specific area (such as digital marketing) and can assist others by sharing their knowledge and offering guidance. They serve as mentors for their respective topics. Since mentors actively participate in informal discussions, as known as conversations, we recommend contacting them first.
Who are "Mentors"?
In our community, mentors are individuals with direct experience working in IT firms in Japan. Their roles are diverse and encompass not only engineering positions but also sales representatives, marketers, operations managers, product managers, and data scientists. Many bring cross-industry experience from fields like FMCG, Finance, and Consulting.
Who can join the community?
We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and expertise who have an open mindset and are interested in interacting with others, whether you are currently employed professionals, university students, freelancers, or not currently employed. For individuals without prior experience in tech firms, joining the community presents a valuable opportunity to gain insights directly from industry professionals.
Are there any specific language requirements for community membership?
The primary language used is Japanese, as the platform is designed to foster career development and learning within the Japanese market. However, we also have members who speak other languages, such as English, Chinese, and French. You can always find members who speak your preferred language.
Why is a real name required for registration?
The community is focused on professional development, and interactions among members go beyond social networking. Therefore, we require real name identification to foster a trusted environment where members feel comfortable discussing professional topics.
What should I do if I want to leave the community?
You can delete your account anytime by accessing the account settings page. If you encounter any issues, please contact our support team (https://alliz.jp/contact).
How can I find a Mentor?
You can search for mentors by topic and other related filters. If you need assistance with search strategy or general consultations, you can book a conversation with one of our team members (https://alliz.jp/about), who is dedicated to helping new community members get started.
How do I make a reservation with a Mentor?
Once logged in, you can send a conversation request to the Mentor, including a brief introduction about yourself, the topics you'd like to discuss, and a few preferred time slots for an online video call. Then, you can finalize the appointment based on the Mentor's response.
Do I need to meet mentors in person?
No, it's not necessary. By default, all one-on-one mentorship conversations are expected to take place online. However, you may have the opportunity to meet mentors in person at certain career events hosted by alliz.
Are there any specific device requirements for online conversations with mentors?
We recommend using a laptop for the conversation for the best experience. We use Google Meet for video calls, and you can join from either the web version or download the desktop app for a smoother experience. For the mentor, integration with Google Calendar is required so that an automatic Google Meet invitation can be created and shared with the other member.
Do I need to turn on my camera during online conversations with the mentor?
It is highly recommended. However, if turning on the video is inconvenient, please inform your mentor in advance.
How frequently should I have a conversation with a mentor?
There is no specific requirement, as it depends on your needs and the mentor's availability. We recommend discussing this with your mentor to decide. Typically, a regular conversation, monthly or quarterly, is recommended.
Can I have conversations with multiple mentors at the same time?
Yes, we encourage you to engage with 2-3 different mentors to gain diverse perspectives and insights to support your decision-making process.
Can I change mentor?
You can change your mentor anytime; there's no formal commitment between you and the mentor. We generally encourage two things: firstly, we recommend having at least 2-3 sessions with one mentor to learn the most from their experience. Secondly, we recommend speaking with 2-3 different mentors to gain diverse perspectives and second opinions.
How to become a mentor?
To become a mentor, you need to be comfortable with the topic. A general guideline is having at least three years of work or research experience in a certain field. Still, we don't impose strict conditions, as we understand that each individual’s situation is different. You can join as a mentor during account creation, profile setup, or any time during profile updates.
I am busy now with work and life. Can I change my status to a regular member?
You can change your membership status to a regular member at any time by updating your preferences in your profile. No reasons are necessary. We hope to see you back soon.
Do I need to pay for using the services?
It's free to use the platform and have conversations with mentors. You do not need to pay any fees. Therefore, please refrain from sharing any confidential information or making direct payments to other members at any time. Participating in events hosted by alliz is also free.
Do I get paid to join the conversation as a Mentor?
We do not provide compensation for conversations you participate in as a Mentor. However, your contributions as a Mentor in the community will be tracked and displayed in your public profile as a personal achievement. We plan to use these contribution records for a future loyalty program, which may offer rewards.
